It has been soooo long since I’ve written in my blog, I figured my trip to Colorado would be a great time to get it up and running again and share my journey with you as well as some photos. The reason I’m in CO is for a photography workshop that I’ve been dreaming about for the past several years. Starting tomorrow, I will be joining a few other photographers from the Equine Photographer’s Network at the Sombrero Ranch in Craig, CO. I am beyond excited….and look forward to living the experience with you!
I left Minnesota yesterday afternoon with my husband, Todd, and stepson, Jason….and we flew into Denver last night. The night got even later as we drove to Colorado Springs because this morning, we had plans to take a train ride up to Pike’s Peak. We got tickets on the Pike’s Peak Cog Railway (http://www.cograilway.com/) and were looking forward to getting up to the summit. However, due to snow the night before, we were unable to make it all the way. We were told there were 12-15 foot snow drifts covering the tracks and although their crew was working to clear the way….it wouldn’t be done by the time our train got up there. So we had to stop a tad below the summit. It was a beautiful day and we met some nice people from Missouri on the train to sat knee to knee with us on our 3 hour trek. At one point, our conductor mentioned that due to the steepness of the climb, the front of our train was 3 stories higher than the rear of the train! We had some lovely views and stopped on the way back down for about 1/2 hour to wander around and take some photos.
From there, we headed to Steamboat Springs…taking an awesome drive through the mountains. We are spending the night in Steamboat and I will get dropped off in Craig in the morning as I will be participating in a Photoshop workshop with the very talented Sherron Sheppard. I’m really looking forward to meeting Carien Schippers, Scott Trees, and making new friends with the other participants.
About it for tonight. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow so I’m going to share some photos from today and get some sleep. Goodnight….and I will write again soon!
